Slow Cooker Smoky Beef Brisket

  • Cooking Time:

    10-12 hours
  • Servings:

    8-10

Ingredients

1 Large Onion, sliced
3.5 lb. Beef Brisket
1 T. Sea Salt
1 tsp. Smoked Paprika
1 tsp. Dried Mustard
1/2 tsp. Pepper
12 oz. Bottle Chili Sauce

Beef Brisket is a holiday tradition around our home yet it’s something we enjoy all year around.  We enjoy the flavors that are really brought out through the slow cooking process.   I hope you love this recipe for Slow Cooker Smoky Beef Brisket as much as my family.

  1. Arrange onions in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Combine salt, pepper, mustard and smoked paprika in a small bowl.
  3. Rub both sides of the meat with the seasonings and place in a 6-Quart slow cooker.
  4. Pour the chili sauce over top of the meat.
  5. Cover. Crock on LOW for 10-12 hours.

Note: You can also substitute pork for the beef in this recipe!

Will the chili sauce make it hot? I grew up in Texas and I’m looking for that Great Texas Brisket taste.. 😉 But I’m a lightweight on hot spicy stuff..lol

Went to three different stores and could not find it. So I think I might try the liquid smoke and see how that works. Wish me luck!

Could not find the smoke flavored salt. If you use the liquid smoke, how much should be used? Thank you

links to find smoked sea salt. I use 1/4 teaspoon of liquid smoke in my pea soup so I would not use much more than that in the Chili sauce to replace the smoked sea salt. Brown the meat on both sides with your favorite seasoning like season all or just salt and pepper prior to placing it in the crock pot. here is the link to ask.com search that has some places that sell it.. http://search.tb.ask.com/search/GGmain.jhtml?searchfor=smoked%2520sea%2520salt&st=tab&ptb=4014CD13-7EE1-47F4-AEF9-FB675FA11848&n=780b8398&ind=2014020504&ct=SS&pg=GGmain&tpr=tabsbsug&p2=^UX^xdm297^YYA^us&si=49588

McCormicks makes a Texas Slow BBQ rub. It comes in a packet. I also don’t like hot food. Just got back from Texas and fell in love with their BBQ!! The McCormick rub comes real close to that Texas flavor without the heat. Just the right kick!! I would try that rather than the chili sauce…..
