Ingredients

2 1/4 c. whole milk
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
12 oz. can evaporated milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 T. vanilla extract
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. kosher salt
9 egg yolks
10-12 slices white bread, challah works great
Freshly whipped cream

It doesn’t have to be Cinco de Mayo to enjoy this amazing and easy traditional dessert with a twist.  Slow Cooker Tres Leches Bread Pudding can be made with any day-old bread you have on hand!

  1. Lightly grease the inside of a large crock. Line the insert with foil for easy removal, letting some foil overhang.
  2. Next, in a large mixing bowl, whisk together whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, salt and egg yolks. Toss in the cubed bread and mix to coat all the bread.
  3. Add the mixture to the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and crock on LOW about 4 hours.
  5. Check center of cake with toothpick.
  6. Remove lid, and allow to cool for 30 minutes.
  7. Use the foil handles to lift the bread pudding from crock.

SERVE by topping each dish with freshly whipped cream and cinnamon.

Why is it necessary to remove the pudding from the crock pot to serve it? Seems like it might be tricky to use foil to lift it out, so why not just serve from there?

Why three kinds of milk? Um, hello – it’s TRES LECHES. Tres is three in spanish and leches is milk in spanish.

This recipe states 154 g as the serving size, what is that? Can you post serving sizes as cup, ounce, slice etc?

I don’t like the idea of having the food cook in the foil. I believe the aluminum leeches into the food. How about parchment paper. A great addition would be to add sliced apple or pear that has been sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Just put 1/2 the recipe in the crock pot, sprinkle with 1/2 the fruit, then add the rest of the mixture and sprinkle the rest of the fruit on top. Raisons or dried cherries are also good. I add apple and rasions and some walnuts on the top. YUM!

When you check it with a toothpick should it come out clean? I would think it wouldn’t being that this cake is somewhat wet.
Thanks

It turned out great…. but how are you supposed to get it out of the foil without the entire thing falling apart? When I served myself I had to spit out a piece of foil. I would like to make it for others, but no way would I serve it knowing there could be foil in it. You said to grease the crockpot…. but would it be a good idea to grease the foil too?
Thanks
