Slow Cooker Pork Chili Verde

  • Cooking Time:

    6-8 hours on Low
  • Servings:

    6

Ingredients

1 lb. pork shoulder stew meat
12 oz. green taco sauce or salsa Verde
14 oz. black beans, rinsed & drained (optional)
14 oz. Great Northern beans, drained
4 oz. green chilies, chopped, drained
1/2 c. onion, chopped

My family goes crazy for pork in the slow cooker.  Not only does it cook up so perfectly, it absorbs flavors so well and we love to play with different seasonings.  A favorite dish of ours is Slow Cooker Pork Chili Verde. It’s delicious and so easy!

  1. Grease a 3 quart slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Combine all ingredients and place in the slow cooker.
  3. Cover and Cook on Low for 6-8 hours.

In this picture of Chili Verde is that cilantro? Looks like maybe celery or something in there too that’s not listed in recipe!?

Do you put the meat in raw or pre-cooked?

just a quick question about the nutritional info? What is the serving size? THe carb, fiber and proteins seem like a lot in a single serving. thanks

I added a can of yellow hominy to mine instead of one of the cans of beans. It tastes great and gives it a very mild corn flavor which goes great with salsa verde.

Jenn, I have purchased all the ingredients and can’t wait to try this recipe! So there’s no addition of water or broth? It looks so juicy 🙂

I made this tonight. I added cilantro and cumin. It was a big hit! Definitely a do-over!

Just made this today! Delicious! I used a tomatillo verde salsa and left out the green chilies. I also added a mix of red, green, yellow, orange bell peppers and red onions. Having a chili competition at work to raise money for breast cancer and I think I’m going to make this one to take. Thanks again!

I think I did something wrong…. My chili came out all gloppy and gluey. 🙁

Is there only 1 lb of meat? I’m used to pork shoulder coming in much bigger sizes. Can’t wait to make it!

So the pork shoulder is already cut up before you put it in the crock, correct?
