Slow Cooker 15 Bean Soup with Leftover Ham Bone

  • Cooking Time:

    8 hours
  • Servings:

    9-10

Ingredients

1 Ham Bone (use leftover from your Holiday Ham)
1 Package Hurst's HamBeens® 15 Bean Soup®
1 Onion, sliced
1 Carrot, peeled & chopped
1 Stalk Celery, chopped
6 c. Chicken Broth
2 Bay Leaves
2 Garlic Cloves, minced
2 T. Honey
Salt and Pepper to taste

New Years traditions vary from Family to Family, and one of our favorite family traditions is to make this delicious ham & bean soup with Hurst’s HamBeens® 15 Bean Soup® and the leftover Ham Bone from Christmas.

It’s a great use of that leftover holiday ham and a cost-effective way to feed the family at your New Year’s celebration.

  1. Rinse and sort beans.
  2. Cover beans with water and soak overnight.
  3. Drain beans and place in a 6-Quart slow cooker.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and stir.
  5. Cover. Cook on Low for 8 hours.
  6. Remove Ham Bone and pull meat off the bone.
  7. Remove bay leaves.
  8. Add ham back to soup and stir.

SERVE with corn bread, if desired.

NOTE: Several people have asked where you can get the package of 15 Beans and I’ve found that most Wal-Mart stores carry them.

Hi CPG!! Happy New Year.
I wonder what happens if I just threw everything from recipe, including dry beans-unsoaked into the crock pot would they ever cook up? I remember as a kid (many moons ago) I tried cooking beans and 4 days later they still were hard as rocks. Did I mess up again???

Hello- thank you so much for the recipe- it looks great! I’ve Pinned it for my after-Easter menu. =D
Quick question- do you use the seasoning packet that comes with the beans or skip it?
Thanks in advance!

We made this soup today. We could not find those beans, but we did buy a version by Bob’s Red Mill. It is so good! Thank you for a great recipe!

Should the package of spices from the bean package be added to the soup or just use the bay leaves?
