**Slow Cooker Ham

Slow Cooker Ham

1.5 c. packed brown sugar
8 lb. spiral sliced ham
15 oz. Canned Pineapple Rings with juice

Slow Cooker Ham is the perfect solution to any holiday, get together, or just to have a delicious ham!

  1. Rub ham with 1/2 c. brown sugar.
  2. Spread remaining cup of brown sugar on the bottom of a 6-Quart slow cooker.
  3. Pour in the juice from the pineapple rings and stir.
  4. Place the ham flat side down onto the brown sugar.
  5. Place pineapple rings on top of ham.
  6. Cover. Cook on Low for 8 hours.

NOTE: The rule of thumb is to cook 1 hour for each pound of the ham on Low, so you would want 8 hours on Low for an 8 pound ham.

IMPORTANT: It is my suggestion to use a meat thermometer to make sure your ham is done! If you are cooking an uncooked ham, you want an internal temperature of 160F. If you are cooking an pre-cooked ham, you want the internal temperature of 140F.

So you add no juices? Does the ham turn out juicy without any juice?

Do you think it would be okay if we poured coke over the ham?

Hi…you do not need to add water or any liquid to most cooked meats in a crock pot. They cook in their own juices…and you will be surprised at the liquid that it creates all on its own!!

Did you put in a frozen ham out a thawed hamfor the eight hours on low?

Hi, I was wondering if I could substitute honey for brown sugar? Does honey cook well in a crock pot?

What is your recommendation when using a glaze? Put it on the Ham when started or wait until about an hour or so before cook time ends?

If using a precooked spiral ham, would you still cook it for 8 hours on low?

Actually, better than brown sugar in my humble opinion, use a quality 2 ltr bottle of root beer such as A&W instead. This works wonderfully for making ribs in the crock pot as well.
