Slow Cooker Hamburger Stew

Ingredients

2 lbs. 90% Lean Ground Beef
1 Medi­um Onion, chopped
1 tsp. Minced Gar­lic
2 c. Toma­to Juice or Spicy V-8
3 Car­rots, peeled & sliced
3 Stalks of Cel­ery, washed well & sliced
1 Small Green Pep­per, chopped
10 oz. Frozen Corn
10 oz. Frozen Green Beans
2 Medi­um Pota­toes, peeled & chopped
1 c. Water
1 c. Beef Broth
1 T. Worces­ter­shire Sauce
1 T. Ital­ian Sea­son­ing
2 T. Dry Onion Soup mix
Salt & Pep­per to taste
Tabas­co Sauce, to taste

  1. Place chopped pota­toes and car­rots in the bot­tom of a 6-Quart Slow Cook­er.
  2. In a large skil­let, cook onions and ground beef.  Sea­son with salt & pep­per and cook just until beef is no longer pink.
  3. Drain any grease and place in slow cook­er.
  4. Add remain­ing ingre­di­ents in slow cook­er.
  5. Cov­er. Cook on Low 8–10 hours.

Vari­a­tion: Use 1 c. bar­ley in place of pota­toes.

I make some­thing so very close to this. You put some things in that I haven’t been but think I’ll try yours.

I like using Spicy V-8 and toma­to sauce in place of toma­to juice. You might like try­ing that.

With a few tweets to sat­is­fy my per­son­al pref­er­ences: such as toma­to sauce with no addi­tives or preser­v­a­tives instead of juice (because I am not a fan of toma­to juice) and cut up stew meat in bite size pieces instead of ham­burg­er. Because I want­ed it soupi­er, I added 1 cup of water. Also I used fresh green beans instead of canned. Final­ly I used 3 dash­es of pep­per sauce for the added kick. My hus­band loved this recipe!
