The ingredients say to cut the brisket in half. What is the purpose of cutting it in half if you are putting it in a crock pot? I have a 7 qt crock pot. Would I need to cut it in half or could I put it in whole?

If you were to use a Guiness beer to replace the water, would you eliminate anything such as the vinegar or sugar?
