Ingredients
2 lbs. Honey Crisp apples, peeled and cored (can sub your favorite apple)1/2 c. Apple Cider
2 T. Lemon Juice
2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 tsp. Nutmeg
Try this Fall-inspired Applesauce as a dessert alternative! Kids and adults alike will love the rich apple flavors!
- Peel, core, and slice apples. Place in bottom of slow cooker.
- Add the rest of the ingredients to the slow cooker and stir to combine with apples.
- Cover and Cook on Low for 3-4 Hours or until apples are easily mashed.
- Mash apple mixture with a potato masher, or if you prefer no chunks, use a hand-held blender to puree.
- Applesauce will stay good for up to one week in the refrigerator. You can also freeze in individual portions and use as needed.

Can I make this in a 1.5 quart crock?
You can Morgan but you need to make sure the slow cooker is only 1/2 to 2/3 full to crock properly. So you would also need to adjust the ingredients for the number of apples that fit in your slow cooker. Enjoy!
What is maple sugar? Do you find it with regular white and brown sugar at the store?
Ashley you can find it on line, and possibly from a store that carries items like this. We have a store called Sprouts where I found mine. But not all grocery stores carry maple sugar. Thanks for the question. 🙂
Can this be frozen and used later?
You can Becky! Great to freeze, and if you freeze in ice cube trays, you can even pack in the kids lunches! Easy to pop out and place in a sealed container. Happy Crocking!
Would maple syrup have the same effect/taste as the maple sugar?
Hello Brynn, I have not used Maple Syrup in the place of Maple Sugar, but since it is only 2 Tablespoons, it should still work, I would give it a try. Sorry I don’t know for sure 🙁 Happy Crocking!
I used honey crisp apples and it was so good. I also used maple syrup instead. Very good. Can’t wait to make some more!
