Slow Cooker Chicken (Whole)

  • Cooking Time:

    8–10 hours
  • Servings:

Whole Chicken
salt to taste
pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste
onion powder to taste
paprika to taste
1 — 2 T. Water
Barbeque Sauce (add according to your liking)

Donna Z. J. likes to throw a whole chicken in her slow cooker! I see so many things to do with this recipe Donna, thank you so much for sharing!

  1. Donna seasons her whole chicken on all sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika (paprika is key–gives it a great taste!).
  2. She doesn’t add more than a tablespoon or two of water to keep it from sticking to the bottom.
  3. Cover. Cook on Low all day, and the meat will fall off the bones and be delicious.

Donna says they like to shred it and add barbecue sauce. Serve on hot dog or hamburger buns. I think this would also be good without the barbeque sause, and just shredded to put on salads!

Happy Crocking!

I always make a whole chicken in my crockpot with lots of seasonings, only I put the chicken on a steel rack, add a cup of water to the bottom (so the drippings don’t burn), then I save and freeze all the drippings for later use. When I want to make a homemade gravy or sauce requiring chicken broth, this is SO much better than opening a can. It is full of flavor like you would not believe. And it’s great to add to stir fryes. Also, if you’re going to be gone all day and don’t want it to… Read more »

Can you specify a better time frame? “All day” is a little vague for me.… 🙂
