Slow Cooker Cranberry Sweet and Spicy Meatballs

    2 1/2 hours to 3 1/2 hours

Ingredients

1 1/2 — 2 lb. frozen meat­balls, turkey or beef
15 oz. cran­ber­ry sauce
2/3 c. ketchup
1/2 c. beef broth
3 T. brown sug­ar
1/2 small onion, minced
1 tsp. red pep­per flakes
2 tsp. cider vine­gar


Slow Cook­er Cran­ber­ry Sweet and Spicy Meat­balls are always a crowd pleas­er! This easy recipe is very fla­vor­ful and will have guests com­ing back for more. Select any frozen meat­ball from your gro­cer for this recipe. (Cost­co has large bags that you can keep in your freez­er all the time — just take out a pound or two when you need it.)

  1. Place frozen meat­balls in a slow cook­er.
  2. Com­bine sauce ingre­di­ents; can add addi­tion­al pep­per flakes if you like it with a kick.
  3. Pour the sauce over the meat­balls and stir to coat well.
  4. Cov­er. Cook on High for 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours.

I am on Coumadin (blood thin­ner) and cran­ber­ry is pro­hib­it­ed. Can you think of a good sub­sti­tute because these sound real­ly good!?

I would think Cur­rant jel­ly would work! I know the chili sauce/grape jel­ly com­bo is pret­ty good on the lil smok­ies.

No beef broth on hand so I used 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup bour­bon and added a lit­tle beef bouil­lon. These were excel­lent!
