Slow Cooker Bourbon Chicken

    6-8 hours

Ingredients

2 lb. chicken, boneless, skinless
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes, crushed
1/4 c. apple juice
1/4 c. sugar, light brown
2 T. ketchup
1 T. cider vinegar
1/2 c. water
1/3 c. soy sauce



Actual Slow Cooker Bourbon Chicken does not call for real bourbon, but I like to throw a little in at the end, although optional!

  1. Place chicken in bottom of 6-7 qt. slow cooker.
  2. Mix all ingredients and pour over the chicken.
  3. Cover. Cook on Low for 6-8 hours.
  4. Remove the chicken and shred with two forks or cut into chunks.
  5. Return chicken to the slow cooker and stir to combine.

Optional: After returning chicken to slow cooker, I put a little bourbon in and let it warm through while I cook the rice! Soooooo good!

You can serve over rice with more crushed red pepper flakes (optional) on top.

What kind of chicken? Boneless skinless breasts or thighs?

I have wanted to try some oriental recipes, and I am looking forward to making this.

My only question is the nutritional facts. The only thing with any amount of fat is boneless/skinless ckicken. Where does the 17 grams of fat in the recipe come from?

I made this the other day using boneless skinless chicken thighs. It was soooooo good. I’m going to try the orange chicken next, I think.

So, I am really frustrated with your website right now. I love your recipes, and am grateful for all your posts but I can no longer view them on my browser on my ipad. The add for your app pops up and when I click on see full site it takes me to the website but I can’t open a single recipe. I had to wait several days to get my laptop fixed to be able to open recipes. I am pretty excited to try this recipe though and hope that my kids like it.
